Mentoring programs to begin in fall

This article highlights a program lead by the Director of Retention in 1985, Nancy Kenner. It was designed to "enhance the personalization of the academic environment." These freshman mentoring programs include The Frederick Douglass Society which was black faculty mentoring black students. The goal was to assist black students in their adjustment to a predominantly white school. 250 freshman participated in the pilot program that began in the Fall 1985 semester.
